Aswad remains one of Britain’s best loved reggae bands. In 1988, they earned international acclaim with their reggae version of “Don’t Turn Around,” which sailed to the No. 1 slot in the U.K. Charts.
In 1994, Aswad captured a host of new fans with the release of the album Rise and Shine, a recording which saw the band’s first Grammy nomination for “Best Reggae Album of the Year.” A major hit in the UK and Japan, the album also gave the band another massive hit with the now famous summer reggae anthem ‘Shine.’

ASWAD will be supported by great local reggae duo Bamzooled Soundsystem. Chris and Matty met several years ago whilst working on another project and discovered a mutual love of reggae music. After a few chats they decided to start putting on reggae events together. They wanted the events to benefit the local community, and decided to raise money for the St Barnabas charity.
Now many events later they have raised several thousands of pounds. They both feel very passionate that the community is benefiting and being brought together by the power of reggae music.
